Hi all,
We have purchased a piece of land in Brisbane and will build later this year.
It is a narrow block, with views to the NE from its rear.
There is a drawing of the land in a post I created trying to place the living areas: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=28434
Unfortunately, this orientation means that two walls will be hit by the afternoon sun on hot summer days.
I have read information on passive cooling, insulation etc on the yourhome.gov.au technical manual.
After reading this I am a little confused. I thought it would be as easy as insulating the walls with batts, but alas, there are so many variables in keeping a house cool.
What have others in Brisbane done to keep their project builder designed and built single story house cool, without relying on A/C?
Thanks in advance,
regards
Alf...
