Re: Location of Evaporative Outlets/Vents/Ducts? 22Nov 20, 2007 1:00 pm Hi FionaL can you give us some details about models etc. that you have been quoted and possibly by which company? I am not sure where you are located so can you please advise wher ethe company is? Also, did you take advantage of the cashback offer and the extra warranty that is on offer? Re: Location of Evaporative Outlets/Vents/Ducts? 23Nov 21, 2007 9:53 pm We enquired about evaporative cooling and it turned out the company who did the quote installs the heating and cooling for PD. Any way they Quoted for 8 points at a cost of $4.300 from memory. Would have been over $ 5000 if we had gone through PD. Re: Location of Evaporative Outlets/Vents/Ducts? 24Nov 21, 2007 10:08 pm We have got a quote of the plan for air con for a breezeair unit with 12 ducts, single storey and it was about $5500. Was advised that the largest Brivis unit wouldn't do the job adequately? Anyone got any cheaper for similar? Would love to know company info so that we can get a quote too. my mother in law has the same issue. she ended up getting 2 units on her roof with 12 points and they use 1 single remote. works real well now! Cost?? I'll let you know... Re: Location of Evaporative Outlets/Vents/Ducts? 26Nov 22, 2007 8:53 am Yeah my Mother in law has that problem too
Too much hot air!!!! But seriously let me know what brand she has too if you can please. Thanks heaps. Re: Location of Evaporative Outlets/Vents/Ducts? 28Nov 22, 2007 9:19 am Hi Al, we were originally going to go for a Brivis Ice add on system for the Brivis heater. But H3nley were charging way too much to upgrade the vents and to add 3 phase power and appropriate water lines to the house.
Then we needed to get a 3rd party to install the unit after handover and all up it was going to cost nearly 3 times as much to get the Ice unit.... That's not witihin our budget... I don't want the internal wall units - are there any other options that may be available to us? I really would love the refridgerated cooling, but not willing to pay that much... We were happy to pay about $8-9K but not more.... Re: Location of Evaporative Outlets/Vents/Ducts? 29Nov 22, 2007 10:07 am Ok, We have to have evap cooling up this way due to the dry air. Normal aircons don't work as well due to the lack of moisture in the hair. "M" quoted us $5600 for a Integra but when looking through our file at old plans we saw the price they were actually quoted for just the unit and it was $2051! That's why i rang around to a couple of places here for quotes. DWR can do their largest system which is 8800CFM's with 8 outlets fully installed for $4700. This system runs on as little as a light bulb and is very quiet. Devilees will do their bonair integra largest system with 8 outlets for $4051 fully installed with 3 year warranty. You can also pay an extra $100 and get an extra 2 years warranty and a touch keypad. They also offer water "dump" saving systems at an additional cost. Re: Location of Evaporative Outlets/Vents/Ducts? 31Nov 22, 2007 4:44 pm Price was definitely the reason. We looked and got quotes for all-in-one (eg, gen3 (?) ) as well as gas + add on air-con, and we couldn't justify the cost (from approx $9,000 - $12,000 less the approx $3,000 M would refund us for the heating to get taken out). Melbourne has more cold days than hot, so heating was the priority. We did upgrade our heating, and because we got the same deal as vpande ($1,500 for evaporative with 5 outlets) we couldn't say no - it'd nearly be cheaper than installing ceiling fans! We will see how we go with it, and if it just isn't doing the job we may install a split system in the kitchen/dining/family.
Oh, and I forgot to add that we added in the "dump valve" which apparenly means they don't need to be serviced as often (gets cleaned out after each use). For a couple of hundred dollars we figured it would be the cost of a call out! Ray. Second Time 'Round retail its around double the price of a similar sized actron/dakin system from memory, They are excellent systems though. But with how builder gouge on AC/heating, you… 4 13737 |
