Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 Dec 07, 2009 7:34 pm I've had about 10 air-techs turn up to quote on a 15 to 18 kW ducted system and a 2.5kW split for my office
1. Quite a few of them have said they "won't install Daikin", "they're rubbish now", "make in China" etc etc are they truly no good any more or is this merely unprofessional tripe by guys who can't resell that brand? 2. The house is brick and tile with lots of insulation, 330 m2 but only 160 to 180 m2 is to be cooled. Will 15kW leave me wishing I went with 22k? Thanks in advance. Re: Are Daikin still good? 2Dec 07, 2009 9:22 pm are you happy to be able to cool half the house at once or do you want t be able to run the whole house at once. Oh and are you happy to pay the high running cost too?? 22kwatt unit is better than 15Kwatt. But 15kwatt is much better than a single split system to (which many people do fine with also). Yo should look up the units on the energy australia governemtn we bpage and compare running cost. When I designed my house running cost was considered so I wokred out how to best zone the house and have it designed it to work with 15kwatt so I can use it without being a wally with electricity. Living area during the day and switch to bedrooms at nice. Beable anble to do all hose at once is nice two but there are other things in life more important. re brand - I went with brivis add on as it works with Gas heating which is used in melbourne more than Aircond and gas is much cheaper to run. No? No, Thailand, China, etc. From what I can tell they are having "teething problems", I'm sure they'll iron it all out in due course but I'm buying now. Thanks and good points. I've decided to go with ActronAir SRV190E, it has a big range in operating capacity from 1.8kW to 18.9kW, also a variable indoor unit fan so the power bills should be kept under control. And I agree about gas, much better for heating. We won't use the air-con for heating at all, we just use convector gas heaters. Re: Are Daikin still good? 6Dec 11, 2009 12:55 am Ours is running well. So quiet and reliable and suprisingly cheap to run. Power bill for winter last year $450 - the house was heated using the split system in 1 room (small house) After insulating the ceiling it runs half the time. Power bill was $340. I am home most days (work from home) so it was actually on 10 hours a day but I have it set to 21 degrees and it blows down the hallway from the room its in. The house is cozy.. Sorry that doesnt sound cheap to me. I would be expecting to heat my hole house with in winter fo that much and have the temp set at 24. Re: Are Daikin still good? 9Dec 12, 2009 6:43 pm vid Our new Air Con (Daikin) is being "hooked up" today so will be able to tell you if it works well when we have a forecast high of 39 next week! I just visited more show homes today, one house's air stood out above all the rest, the one with Daikin. The cool air was thumping out of each and every outlet at a very nice pressure. Other similar sized houses with similar sized air-con's barely had a trickle of air by comparison. I would definitely buy Daikin. A Daikin dealership in many ways is the only one worth having... I'd suggest you've been talking to people who either aren't dealers or who have a fair amount of other inventory... Doing well to even get someone to talk to you about a ducted system at this time of year...! Re: Are Daikin still good? 12Dec 17, 2009 9:10 am We went with the Daikin and the things too cold. Its only been averaging mid 30's and popping up to 40 here so far but generally we set it on 26 degree's and even then i turn off some of the outlets. And as for being made in China, what isnt made in China today? We have the 15kw single phase, cant comment on power usage we dont have a bill yet, but i cant imagine any big name brand being spectacularly better than an other in power usage terms Blog - http://snakedr.blogspot.com/ Build Thread - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=12084&p=307406#p307406 Status - PCI 15/10. I've gone to some show homes and no air-con cooled as well as the house with Daikin, just so much cold air at such a high pressure. The others barely (if at all) did the job, but Daikin did it with style. 9 25039 Thank you. Do I use timber floorboards for stairs or do people use timber treads? Or is both the same? 6 7518 Hi, I have had them in the past and the pros are: Versatile, i.e many different colours and styles to choose… 1 7259 |
