Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 Dec 15, 2009 3:14 pm I am looking to have evaporative cooling installed to an averaged-sized 3br townhouse in Melbourne. Due to the house plan I am only able to have the ducts upstairs (4 in total, one in each bedroom and one above the stairs). I am hoping that the duct above the stairway would provide 'some' cooling downstairs. Does anyone have a similiar setup? and how effective is this in cooling downstairs. Currently looking at the Brivis Contour series. We've had 3 quotes with all 3 recommending different sized units (L23 - 8.9kW, L33 - 12.4W, L43 -14kW). Which size do you think is most suitable? Also, one installer said that a return air duct is not required for evaporative cooling. Is this true? Any advice appreciated Re: Evaporative cooling - unit size 2Dec 15, 2009 3:24 pm pckh Also, one installer said that a return air duct is not required for evaporative cooling. Is this true? They should have all said that...return air is only needed for ducted heating...evaporative air con works by sucking in air through the roof mounted unit over the moist panel thingys...tech term...and blowing it into your house. You open a window or sliding door (one) to create a circulation of cool air through the house. mmm....donuts Homer Simpson 1956- Links: Site Costs Ready Reckoner | H1 Addiction Medical Advice | Château TDL: The Backyard I had an old shower unit that broke on me and when I took it off, there were only 2 water pipes, instead of the normal 2 water pipes and a shower head pipe.
