I have just checked the quote from the dealer and it says "1 x Daikin reverse cycle 20kW (8HP) Hybrid three phase ducted air conditioning system". It has 5 zones with 12 grilles. The quote from the builder is for an 18kw inverter with 6 zones. Also, I double checked the amount of the hybrid, and it is actually $11,735 (inc GST), not $11,000 like I thought it was, so it's around $1900 cheaper than the inverter that the builder have quoted on. Ok, so it's time for the stupid question... In terms of energy efficiency, the hybrid one is rated as 3.09 for cooling and 3.60 for heating. The inverter is 3.17 for cooling and 3.55 for heating. Which is better? Is it a case of the higher the energy efficiency rating the better, or the other way around? (See, I said it was a stupid question ). Thanks again! Nic. The 20kW hybrid is almost exactly $1k less than the 18kW inverter, dealer price...
