Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 Nov 22, 2009 9:32 pm Hi, our house is a double storey - approx 36 sq. We have received 3 quotes to install an ACTRON AC system, using either : an SRD 190C/SRV190E ESP Plus or an SRD 230C/SRV 230E ESP Plus How do we know which unit is most suitable to do the size of our home? Could we possibly go with smaller motors? TIA Built the Eden Brae Cambridge 34 Family with Boston Corner Facade Re: Size of AC unit 2Nov 22, 2009 9:36 pm my 33.9sq hme gets a 17.5kw model - but I can zone the house off. ’’Quondo Omni Flunkus Mortati ’’ If the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy. Or we can go up to 3 phase, 20 amp and the next size system which I think is 18 or 19kw?? Any advice on what we should go with will be most appreciated. Re: Size of AC unit 5Nov 23, 2009 3:11 pm Our place is 30sqrs living and we have just installed the ActronAir 24kwt unit with the 8 zones. I wouldn't want to go any smaller than this for that size house, otherwise you will burn the unit out! Was this size recommended to you by an AC company or did you choose it y ourself? My issue is, whether the motor sizes I have been quoted, are too big.....you know what I mean ?......AC companies can suggest anything they like & we wouldn't have a clue Built the Eden Brae Cambridge 34 Family with Boston Corner Facade Re: Size of AC unit 7Nov 23, 2009 6:38 pm We have asked our guy from Actron numerous times if we need to go bigger and he seems pretty adamant that the 17.5kw is all that is needed. My bro-in-law is an electrician and he has suggested we go up to the next size so I think we will end up with that. The actron guy from the start said that because they are a more efficient system you don't need as big a motor??? I would hope they use their knowledge to quote on the most appropriate system for the house and given we are the ones who are wanting to go bigger I am thinking our rep has done just that - Re: Size of AC unit 8Nov 23, 2009 7:33 pm shelby75 We have asked our guy from Actron numerous times if we need to go bigger and he seems pretty adamant that the 17.5kw is all that is needed. We were happy with that particular quote & your electrician brother's advice to you has confirmed that for us. Whether we go up to the 19kw is our decision and influenced by the bro in law who thinks bigger is best. As previously said the actron guy said 17.5kw is ample. Re: Size of AC unit 12Nov 24, 2009 9:47 pm Southies You've helped us come to a decision that we hope is right for our situation. and they're the best decisions to make. one that you're happy with and it suits your needs/wants. good luck with it all ’’Quondo Omni Flunkus Mortati ’’ If the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy. In saying that though, the report that the a/c man gave us also stated that this size unit will only cool 77% of our home on a 40+ degree day, (with all doors etc open) which we get quiet a few of, so after he completed his report he backed our decision regarding size due to his measurements etc etc of our plans. As long as you make a decision based on what your happy with, thats all that matters. our decision Building Thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=13002 Site start: 8th July 2009 Handover: 11/12/2009! 5 months total build time. 40 sqs of luxuary...Bliss!
