Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 Oct 07, 2009 1:07 pm Hi, I was wondering if there is anyone out there who knows how to build a slow combustion fire place? My husband and I are wanting to make a feature out of a central fireplace in our home, building a circular base with the granite stone from our block, glass the whole way around, and then a stainless steel or similar flue, going up through the ceiling. We're unsure as to how the ventilation needs to be set up to make it slow combustion, and also any other information on how to make this work.....we're struggling to find anyone who knows much about this. Thanks, and looking forward to your responses. Simmi and Rod Re: Building a slow combustion fireplace 2Oct 19, 2009 7:10 pm I feel that the science and engineering of a well designed combustion fire is a pretty technical issue that is not easy to DIY. And with possible future restrictions on emissions coming into place - I'd highly recommend you buy one that does what you need. Hi all, My first post, we are building a house and can’t decide the layout of the lounge room. We have a large N/W facing window and are wanting to have a wood slow… 0 13722 No the fireplace doesn’t work. It’s been enclosed. I’m not sure what was removed, as it was done quite some time ago - well before what I can see with photos online… 2 11576 I would probably render it and then paint it as per your other advice, or gyrpock over the top. 1 3328 |
