Im just wondering which style of cooling (evaporative or reverse cycle air con) would be best to install for the amount of living area and initial and running costs? Your thoughts would be appreciated. Cheers Re: Evap or reverse cycle air con for small home?? 2Oct 05, 2009 2:18 pm Evaporative AC Pros Cheaper to buy (one third less) Cheaper to run (< 1/5th of AC) Less moving parts Allows fresh air into the house Cons Uses water Doesn't work efficiently in humidity esp > RH 70% (e.g. at 50% RH temp drop is 12C at 80% RH temp drop will be only 4C) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Click here: Running costs of cooling systems Re: Evap or reverse cycle air con for small home?? 3Oct 05, 2009 3:23 pm Great, thanks. Mum and dad have evaporative and we love it. so cheap to run and mum reuses water on garden in summer which is another advantage. Just wasnt sure of cost of the unit in comparison and if you could actually get evaporative cooler for small homes. Thanks for your reply. How do you remove one of these ceiling air con vents? And is it possible to disconnect the duct joined to the vent from inside the house, without going into the roof cavity? 0 5947 Hi all, sorting out the ducted air con for a 350sqm double story house.
