Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 Sep 06, 2009 7:38 pm We've been obtaining quotes for split systems for our soon to be renovated unit in Sydney and I have the distinct feeling that the solution is being over specified. The outdoor Condenser units I have had quotes for vary considerably in output from 7.5Kw to 11.2Kw cooling. Given the variables described below, what cooling/heating output should we be looking for? The floor area of the conditioned area of unit is approx 85 m2, Ceiling Height is 2.74 m thus volume is around 232 m3. It's on the top (8th floor) of a 1930's concrete framed, brick fronted, block of units - mainly facing East with a tiled pitched roof above - see attached plan. Bats will be installed in the roof during the renovation and windows will be replaced with laminated glass units. We can't use the roof space for a ducted system (due to the Body Corporate -Grrrr) so we have reverted to a 4-head spilt system (outlets: bedroom, living room, dining, kitchen) with the Condenser at the far end of the rear terrace.
