Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 Aug 31, 2009 10:37 am We're building with PD and they provide R2.5 insulation to ceilings. I've been advised to increase this. How do you do this? What is the best way? Just ask the builder what options are available? What's a good rating to increase to? And how do they do it? Would it be best to go thru the builder and get them to do it during construction, or do it after and get someone else to do it? Life is; then you tell yourself a story. Re: Roof Insulation 2Sep 01, 2009 10:55 pm We bought an existing 'built to lockup' building, really just a superior shed at that stage with just internal stud walls and re-designed it on our block of 2.5 acres and a creek. This time I had a builder do a lot of the work and we used a foil/foam/foil sadwich to more than double the roof insulation. We have cathedral ceilings. Ask your builder, but do some research too. We found a good builder, his advice saved us plenty, he finished ahead of time, he built one wall in such a manner as to make the addition of a planned extension easier. Hope you can find a good one too, middling size family business is better than the big spec home fellers Hey guys building a new place through a volume builder and just wondering if i should complain to the site supervisor as we just had plasterboard installed. Looks like… 0 11273 1000000% definitely add insulation. I have in my home and it makes a big difference minimising sound transfer. Insulation is pretty cheap and definitely worth it 2 6191 |
