Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 Aug 18, 2009 1:56 pm We paid extra to have soundscreen installed in the home theatre on the two internal walls. External walls have R2.5 insulation batts. It's all been installed but I'm a little suspicious...confused....as it all looks the same. How can i tell the difference between the two so that I know if they have put in what we paid for and not just normal batts. Re: colour diff between soundscreen and r2.5 insulation batts 3Sep 08, 2009 8:45 am hard and fast answer is that you can't really tell the difference i think. We had the same as you, I'm 95% sure they just used the normal stuff - but the builder said they used the Soundscreen batts..... so I just have to trust he was telling the truth. Which I doubt. Fortunately with the soundstop plasterboard, it's an ENTIRELY different colour (yellow) so it's easy to tell if they've used that or not! (no point in getting the soundscreen batts and then not getting the soundstop plasterboard!). Re: colour diff between soundscreen and r2.5 insulation batts 5Sep 10, 2009 3:15 pm Soundscreen is made by Bradford Insulation, so phone them & ask what the colour should be for the thickness you specified. Soundscreen should be a lot denser than thermal insulation (about 32kg/m3 compared to about 8kg), so it should be much harder to squeeze. Re: colour diff between soundscreen and r2.5 insulation batts 6Sep 15, 2009 1:59 pm I thought the glass batts are yellow and the sound insulation ones are rockwool and are a creamy colour. See this link for a picture of them. http://www.bradfordinsulation.com.au/Pr ... ation.aspx Found the answer.
