I am planning on doing the install myself as I am owner building, so looking for some advise from others who have done it.
I have read the yourhome technical manual and some threads on here which have helped slightly or maybe confused hehe. I should be avoiding fibreglass but out of the stuff left over, not sure what to choose. Poly seems to be the target but might be too expensive? Sticking with batts as I don't like the idea of blow in.
All insulation will be installed before plaster as navigating around the roof will be hard due to ducting and space limitations. I plan on using a tape stapled to the frame to hold ceiling batts similar to what the ducted heating guys use to hang all the duct work.
I need R2 for walls and R3.5 for ceilings for 5 star, depending on cost obviously aiming for higher is of benefit.
Construction is as follows:
Ground floor: Brick, foil attached to timber frame (std 90mm). Concrete slab
Upper floor: 50mm Polystyrene M Grade Cladding (Apparently R1.2) attached directly to frame. Yellow tounge floor with 1 room suspended over garage.
Roof: Concrete tiles (didn't do sarking, maybe I should have but its too late for that now)
As a rough guide, the ground floor area is 98m2 and upstairs 66m2 according to the site plan with 2700mm ceilings throughout. Probably be best to measure each room individually less window/doors but I'll get to that later.
I don't really have a value listed on the budget so its more a case of working out how much I need and then pricing up each option and working from there.
As I am doing it myself, don't want to harass trades for quotes given I don't have a genuine interest in giving them the work so hopefully the good people here can set me straight!
