Any advice David Re: Insulation 3Aug 08, 2009 7:20 pm It can help reduce the inside temperature by up to 10"c in summer and up to 10'c warmer in winter, especially if you use good blockout curtains or blinds aswell. No house should be without insulation IMO It will depend on the thickness of the batt. In this study you can infer these temperature reductions based on a 35 degree C day. 2.8 deg C - for a 3 inch (75mm) batt - R 1.5 5 deg C - for a 6 inch (150mm) batt - R 3.5 http://www.fsec.ucf.edu/en/publications ... N-6-86.pdf You can get batts that go up to R 6.0 (250mm) or 10 inches thick. On a 35 degree day the roof space temperature under a typical non-reflective roof can climb to 87 degrees. This is virtually eliminated by having an additional piece of foil sisalation underneath it. Re: Insulation 6Aug 17, 2009 4:47 pm bulldoggie In sydney metro. Do i need to ventilate my roof too? It has been shown that if your roof space is separate from your living space then ventilating it does little to change the temperature in the house.
