Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 Jul 24, 2009 2:11 pm Hi, We have separate exhaust fan wired and installed by the builder but we didn't have wiring for heating in our ground floor baths! This is a 2 storey house. We would like to install a 2 heat / light in there. One electrician said that we can’t install them without damaging the structure. Are there any alternatives? Regards, San Re: Installing 2 heat&light combo after handover 3Jul 24, 2009 5:10 pm Our new heat/light/fan has an auto switch that turns the fan on after a while to prevent the heatlamps from overheating. With our old one we used to run the fan anyway for that purpose otherwise you could see the heat globes getting what looked like scorch marks. I don't know if you can have a heat/light without a fan and I don't know what you can do about retrofitting a heat/light/fan on the ground floor of a two storey house. Is the electrician saying that the existing hole and ducting are not compatible with any heat/light/fans? The only other thing I could think of was the old fashioned radiant wall heaters. I googled to see if they even make them any more and I found this. http://www.infolink.com.au/c/Heat-On-Sy ... ms-n820866 Do you have just a ceiling light at the moment? Maybe you could put something over or around the vanity instead? Ducting is not a problem because the builder has already done it. Separate to that, we have wiring for light only. I want to heat/light in that spot. OR Heat/light/exhaust where the stand alone exhaust is. Macy Do you have just a ceiling light at the moment? Maybe you could put something over or around the vanity instead? Yes. Just a ceiling light (wiring only at this stage). I'll look into top of vanity heating option. Thanks for that tip. Re: Installing 2 heat&light combo after handover 5Jul 29, 2009 3:38 pm Finally paying the same electrician (who did the wiring for the builder) to do the job. Costing about $1400.00! He is going to do wiring & ducting for 4 heat/fan/light in 2 baths in upstairs and supply & install 2heat/light in 1 bath downstairs. Could have been cheaper if I knew better when we gave specs to the builder! Hey all, Hoping for some inspiration for my bathroom laundry combo. The tiles are in good condition, as is the bathtub.
