Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation Re: Sound / Acoustic insulation 22Apr 09, 2012 3:48 am Hi If the prices were similar I would have no hesitation in going for the Rockwool. However at 4 times the price, I wonder whether 75mm of Rockwool would actually be significantly more effective in reducing the sound than 200mm of normal thermal insulation. Ted seems to think that the cheaper thermal insulation would be adequate, but I would be happy to hear any other opinions. Thanks. Julian Re: Sound / Acoustic insulation 23Apr 09, 2012 6:19 am Did a bit of research on this for a friend as they needed a soundproof room for a drum kit. I'll go with the cheap thermal type insulation. The result is bound to be significantly better than what was there before, so no point wasting money on more expensive insulation. Thanks.
