My home is timber and is just over ten years old. Both bathrooms have window vents installed - they are steel vents that look like grills with small holes and is attached to the window from the top and they are always open, there is no flap or slide to shut them close.
During winter and the rainy seasons, the steel vents allow cold and wet air in. I don't see a need for these vents and wonder if they are creating the mold that grow on the doors.
Should I have them removed as they create draft which is a health hazard when the temperature drops? If I do get rid of them, can a welder seal each of the tiny holes or should I just replace the entire window/vent unit altogether? Thanks for any help.
