Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation Re: Approx cost of getting gas connected and installed? 13Jan 14, 2011 1:19 pm Got my gas connected this week. Took 2 blokes 7 hours. They had to locate the gas main on the other side of the street, dig down to it, bore under the road to my side then bore and dig up my side boundary to the house. They installed the meter and put most of the soil back. Not bad for $125! I wanted the meter about 1m back but itwas too close to the underfloor access door. That means I'll need to spend for an extra 1m of copper from the plumber. Now I just need a plumber to do the rest of the gas connection. I just hope it's an old stormwater pipe and not the actual one. Thanks. I called VBA today and they said it was a Consumer Affairs issue, the old handball.
