Melbourne isn't that cold anyway. we're still young, so we can live without the comfort heat. i grew up with no heaters at all until i came to Melbourne at the age of 20. I'll let this luxury item wait a bit more until I really need heaters everywhere in the house. Re: Has anyone heard of/using Greenheat hydronic system? 9Aug 14, 2009 10:42 am Having grown up in Europe with heating panels the normal way of heating, I can only say that my kids getting burned by them is not very high on my worry list. My eldest was born there and he automatically stayed clear when they were blazing hot. I have never heard of anyone getting burned by them either. Jack Re: Has anyone heard of/using Greenheat hydronic system? 10Aug 15, 2009 10:19 am F&E I know this may be a little late for you, but we were considering greenheat, but then went with Branco Boilers (located in Albury but servicing a much wider region) instead as they use separate pipes to the domestic hot water (so one set at tap temperature, the other at 70 degrees or so), which seems a little more hygienic. They also use the one boiler for both. We've been pretty happy with their service, and the heating works wonderfully. Hi F&E I am thinking of building another house and looking at radiator heating next time (this is what we used to have in the UK) Have you got any pictures of yours and is it alot more expensive than ducted gas heating and what about to run do you find it expensive? I havnt looked into it yet as its early days about building, but its something I would consider. I find ducted heating isnt balanced perfectly and its dusty and you can hear it fire up if you leave the heating of at night. Where as the radiator heating is so quiet and clean, the only draw backs I see are that you loose some wall space or you have to have shorter windows and place the radiator underneath. Be interesting to see how your getting on with it, also was there many companies around here that you got quotes off or did you just stick to the one? Sorry for all the questions Know where your going in life............... you may already be there Re: Has anyone heard of/using Greenheat hydronic system? 11Aug 17, 2009 3:18 am just had a quick read of their site, unfortunatly they dont support inslab heating because of the lower temperature however you can hook the solar up to it as a pre heat too! might get some quotes, just dont think the radiators would be enough for large 25sqm areas like a family room for instance. -Nathan 2nd-Fix | Blog Building with Desyn Homes previously with the insolvent Endeavour Homes Re: Has anyone heard of/using Greenheat hydronic system? 12Aug 17, 2009 10:58 am FireFox ( however you can hook the solar up to it as a pre heat too! I have done some calculations on the amount of winter sun energy you can collect from solar panels to drive a hydronic system. It isn't a lot. A 30 tube evacuated tube system may give you about 90L of 60C of hot water a day (saving you 40c/day in off peak electricity bills during winter) . This is not enough for your hot water needs let alone a hydronic system. There is nothing magical about solar systems. They need the sun. Winter = No sun. No free lunches. All your big wins come during the warmer months. But you don't need home heating then! You can intuit the heating capacity of a solar HWS. In a passive solar design you need about 1/6 of the internal floor area to be lit up by sun to keep it adequately warm. But a typical solar HWS has a collector surface area of no more than 3m2 and it can only convert a maximum of 80% of this sun energy into heat. It would be far more efficient just to put a window in a wall to let the sun fall directly onto the floor and heat that 3m2 area. Maybe I was unlucky but my system started corroding and filled the pipework and filters with black flakes. Hydrotherm flushed it twice and tried to charge me, now they don't want to know me. I've had to install a separate drinking water supply. I'm now in the process of separating the two systems and installing a hydronic boiler so I can drink the domestic hot water and dose the hydronic system. Absolute nightmare!! Currently renovating, and our main lounge is 5m x 10m, with a cathedral roof peaking at 6.5m high. Currently have tiles on concrete slab. Room is very hard to heat. I am… 0 4815 Does anyone have a suggestion for a good hydronic in slab heating speacialist who may be able to help me with an existing system and wether or not it may need a seperator… 0 4882 0 2020 |
