Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 May 05, 2007 1:28 pm From 1st May 2007 it is mandatory that all WA homes must now be 5-star energy rated. I am about to build a steel frame home on stumps and a 5-star report is required. Was wondering if anyone had any ideas about the best way to insulate this type of home and with what product. I am aware of an air-cell product that can be used in the walls and floors but was wondering if other options are out there - pole homes are difficult to 5-star rate due to the energy escaping/entering through the flooring system. Re: New 5-star energy rating BCA codes 2May 05, 2007 3:51 pm Bats could be the way to go.But difficult to advise from Victoria as I don't know if WA will be using a similar software program for determining the 5 star pass. Here we have a mix n match cut n paste type vehicle which allows all sorts of different outcomes including window size,R rating of bats in walls, ceilings and under floor, double glazing to some windows etc. Finally we must have either a water tank duel plumbed to the toilets or a solar panel duel hotwater service.
In the end two operators could enter the same initial data for a house and come up with two different reports...Weird science imho. 10 years ago was a different software than we use now. it has had a lot of changes over the past years.
