Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 May 17, 2009 4:22 pm I'm in the suburbs of Adelaide. My house feels hot in summer and cold in winter, and I'm pretty sure that the insulation isn't up to par, the windows leak etc etc. I'm trying to see if I can hire anyone to do an INDEPENDENT audit - so that I find out where I'm best to spend my money. But I can't find any local group, other than insulation companies who are presumably going to tell me to give them lots of business. Anyone know of any options? THANKS! David Re: Insulation audit 2May 17, 2009 4:34 pm You seem to be blissfully unaware of the Governments Free Insulation program. http://www.environment.gov.au/energyeff ... index.html You can still qualify if you have existing insulation that isnt up to standard. Re: Insulation audit 4May 17, 2009 5:26 pm It's only my opinion, but I think you would qualify. For Adelaide you should have 3.5. The Gov website states that you are eligible if you have insulation that is inadequate. What have you got to lose? I have had mine put in and will claim it back after July 1st but if you are unsure perhaps wait until after July 1st and get the Gov to do the whole thing, that way there is no risk to your funds. Re: Insulation audit 5May 17, 2009 5:52 pm Unfortunately the site says... The Homeowner Insulation Program offers ceiling insulation worth up to $1,600 to owner-occupiers. The program targets homeowners who are currently uninsulated, or have ceiling insulation with an R-value of 0.5 or less.
