Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation Re: Hydronic heating Vs On slab heating - running cost 21Jun 29, 2009 2:32 pm Thanks for you reply Dymonite69! We're having solar gas hot water system too. The reason for me to put up the solar grid panels is to help with the electricity bills from all electrical appliances, not just the heating system. I understand the importance of insulation of the house, and I know electrical heating uses lot more energy and release more CO2. But even a gas hydronic system still requires some electricity to run the boiler and fan. I am thinking maybe if i put the system in off-peak, plus energy from solar panels during the day, then it'll cut down my electricity consumption greatly, and I don't have to pay extra gas bill. Even though gas is cheaper to run, but if you're heating up the whole house with gas, it still costs money! So if the running costs end up to be the same, but the electrical one costs only half to set up, then i'll go for the electric one. The one i'm thinking to install is from this company: http://www.lvi-thermosoft.com.au/ I think most likely i'll give up the idea of electrical under floor heating system. regardless how small the electromagnetic field it'll generate, it's still a HUGE piece and we'll be standing or ****** directly on top of it. Re: Hydronic heating Vs On slab heating - running cost 22Jun 29, 2009 2:53 pm There are also hydronic panel systems which I presume would be less expensive to install. You could run that off a gas boiler. Does anyone have a suggestion for a good hydronic in slab heating speacialist who may be able to help me with an existing system and wether or not it may need a seperator… 0 4883 2 6192 Hi all I am looking to run a water line under my concrete footpath which is directly next to my home, was seeing if this is possible without cutting the entire section… 0 20182 |
