Go ahead - stick your heads in the sand - you might as well get used to the feel of dry grit anyway - that's where we're heading if people think the subject of global warming doesn't belong in a discussion about air-conditioners. I suggest that you get a few reverse cycle inverter splits with a very high efficiency ratio. Try something like: PANASONIC CS-HE9DKE / CU-HE9DKE with an EER of 4.93 or MITSUBISHI SRK25ZDXA-S with an EER of 4.81 or PANASONIC CS-TE9DKE / CU-TE9DKE with an EER of 4.49 or PANASONIC CS-XE9EKE/CU-XE9EKE with an EER of 4.35 or TOSHIBA RAS-10JKVP-E/RAS-10JAVP-E with an EER of 4.34 My understanding of EER is that it reflects the ratio of input power to output power. So the one at the top of the list would put out about 4.93KW of cooling for every 1KW of power supplied ie. nearly 500% efficient. This is possible because you are moving heat and not creating it. Cooling is the same process in reverse. As for the undercurrent of this thread, people tend to assume too much. The high efficiency above challenges many other forms of heating and cooling. Further to this people may well have solar or wind installations in their homes or even be buying up to 100% green electricity. They may also buy offsets. Finally, it really doesn't matter how well your home is designed or insulated, it's aspect or anything else, 42C without cooling will be uncomfortable. 3xb Anybody know any good and reasonably priced Air conditioning contractors/companies that could install a ducted air conditioning system in the Central Coast NSW for a small… 0 8994 I'm putting a new floor in my kitchen, slate flagging on a standard concrete slab.
