Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 Apr 16, 2009 7:02 pm Hi all, I just have a couple of questions regarding Evaporative Coolers, I don't want to turn this in to a debate about evaporative vs. refrigerated air cond, I know the difference.lol Firstly im tossing up between Brivis contour and breezair, is there really a major difference between them? I have had one quote so far on the Brivis contour L43 thru WESTERN THERMAL SOLUTIONS, has anyone dealt with them?????. As they are a brivis stockist im yet to get a price on the breezair, but I have heard they cost more than the brivis, is it worth the extra dollars? Lastly I know they have their limitations, but on a avg summer day, say 35c, what can I realistically expect to get? Thanks Re: cooler questions 2Apr 16, 2009 9:57 pm viewtopic.php?f=20&t=9991 Have a look at the above discussion, the brands are discussed a fair bit in there. Running costs are very hard to determin. Electrical you need to find out the power input watts, then times this by the cost of electricity and how many hours a day you want to run it for. This is the on max speed though, you dont usually have to run your evap on full speed most of the time anyway. I run mine on around half. 35-50c a day is realistic, 3c a day which one brand claims is almost impossible, you can run it for that on the lowest possible speed on a small system but it wont cool your home. Its a very misleading add campain, it is technically false advertising in my opinion. Personally, considering your layout (study/work desks in bedrooms), I don't think you have any other option but to leave NW windows and make them as big as possible e.g.… 7 10455 We had this happen to us last year and got charged a variation.
