Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 Mar 24, 2009 10:52 am Can someone advise me please. I have a split system due to be installed on my lounge wall which backs onto my carport. A few installers have advised that I can mount the outside part on the carport roof. I am sure I have read somewhere not to do that as it will be exposed to the full sun and elements? Is this correct?? Re: Installation on carport roof? 2Mar 24, 2009 1:39 pm thats just ******* it will look sh1t if it is installed on top of your carport roof! try to put it down the side of the house instead. maybe they were trying to cut corners by saving on pipes etc.? cheers, KM Melington - what a cool concept! The unit however is fine out in the elements as this is what they are designed for. The unit will get good airflow which will help it run effectively. Re: cost saving on the pipes etc, can't see that it would be much difference as it is basically a back to back installation its just that my carport is a little narrow so I think they thought rather than clog up the carport, stick it on the carport roof. Re: council etc, 2 other units in my block have theirs on the carport roof (probably where the installer got the idea from too) It would be equally visible if it were on the ground as opposed to on the roof.
