I havnt been asked so I presume mine will be square! Know where your going in life............... you may already be there Re: Air Cond Vents...Shape? 3Mar 17, 2009 8:10 pm Interesting question - we weren't asked. Our ducting is installed, but no ceiling outlets (no plaster yet) and it seems that the two wall vents will be rectangular. I was assuming the ceiling outlets will be round. Re: Air Cond Vents...Shape? 4Mar 17, 2009 8:14 pm Downstairs in my house is square and round upstairs....
Wierd huh?? Re: Air Cond Vents...Shape? 6Mar 17, 2009 8:18 pm downstairs is all ways square due to the floor joist, the duct work is joined into a square box outlet, the round is standard due to duct work having plenty of room to move within the ceiling space,
hope that helps Re: Air Cond Vents...Shape? 8Mar 17, 2009 8:25 pm That is a great explanation and makes perfect sense!!
Thanks for that... Re: Air Cond Vents...Shape? 9Mar 17, 2009 8:59 pm I don't seem to have the words in my head to describe this properly, but the square ones have 4 sections of small vents that can be opened and closed. The round ones are fixed open.
Does that make sense??? Re: Air Cond Vents...Shape? 10Mar 17, 2009 9:04 pm Ours are round ones...... well 10 inch round according to DH apparently the air flow is better or something like that . Oh and ours screw closed as well so we can block off a room if needed. We rented a 2 storey Clarendon home & it had round all the way through. Mr know-it-all air cond man even put one directly above my island bench I saw red. He said to me "well if you get any interior decorator in here they will tell you, if you have round downlights you should have round outlets".....I said quite calmly " I am having square downlights" his mouth dropped open, AHOLE. I was so mad he didn't even ask and he thought he knew it all. Well I told him to rip the upstairs ones out and especially the one over the bench WHERE MY LIGHTS ARE GOING AAHOLE. I hate smart @rses. Now I have to get the holes patched up....any suggestions people, I am kind of brain dead at the moment. Re: Air Cond Vents...Shape? 13Mar 18, 2009 11:49 am SuH, your plasterer will just backblock and patch the holes.
Had you mentioned you wanted square? If so, the repair should be on them. If not, you mightn't have a foot to stand on but i would ask the air cons guys to come to the party with the repair costs as it is there mistake to assume and should have clarified at some stage. Thanks wake_me, it sounds easy when you say it. I didn't mention it because I didn't know there were any different and he didn't ask me, I didn't even know they were starting yesterday morning. I said to him if he had given me the option I would have told him square. Anyway, I will get it fixed and take it off his price....such a know it all grrrr.
