Has anyone heard anything specific about this model Vulcan gas ducted heater: Vulcan V4 30i XA gas ducted heating unit?? I've just had a quote given to me by someone to install ducted refrigerated air con and he reckons that they are a pile of poo and to try to get a credit from my builder. He is recommending a Lennox gas heater with added on air con all to go through the same ducts. He will be sending through a quote hopefully by email today or Monday. Lennox G34MV3-080 gas furnace with one Lennox CH23-41 cooling coil with 2 zones, Total Price $11,200 incl GST OR Lennox G61MPVT60B-070 gas furnace with one Lennox CH23-41 cooling coil with 2 zones Total Price $12,500 incl GST Both come with the Lennox HS29-036S 9.8kW condenser. Only the heater is different and I think that comes down to an energy efficiency with the G61 series being more effifcient. What do people think? If I can get the heater removed from the builder and credited then they are both in my budget (depending on the credit)[/quote] 'A bottle of wine contains more philosophy than all the books in the world.' Not much call for it over in Perth! Good luck and let me know how you go! I tried to change the toilet in my house to one of those water efficient ones that have the basin where the button is so you can wash your hands and the builder wouldn't even listen. They just pointed to the 'no changes rule'! Re: Changing standard heater from the builder ?? 4Feb 21, 2009 2:37 pm I don't know if this is the same as yours but our builder has the Vulcan 3 star as standard....we've had that in our first home and was not happy with it at all.
So we upgraded to the 5 star model...which gave us three zones....Didn't shop around elsewhere as our builders do not allow other suppliers stuff to be put into the contract (though they did make an exception with the cooling)... Having seen our SC today to revise our contract and take out a sh*tload of stuff so that we fall under our budget....we downgraded the heating to a 4 star. Saved us $1300. She noted that the display has the 3 start heating as as she is working there everyday, she felt that it did a great job. It wasn't enough to convince me though as our home is going to be much larger than the display and also we wanted the minimum two zones. I'm sure that there are better heaters on the market and l don't really know where the Vulcan range stands overall....it's something we didn't have the luxury of looking into further. As for the add on cooling stuff...l got no idea about that either sorry. Good luck with your heating and cooling research Re: Changing standard heater from the builder ?? 5Feb 21, 2009 6:49 pm Thanks Thorney, I'm still not sure what to do, I spose I need to get another quote for something and see what they say about the current heater too.
I'm hoping that PD will credit me about $2k for the heater, which when you add in the $1k for the dual zones, it comes in under $10k I roughly estimate - bloody hell it's a lot of money!! I'm going stock standard with just about everything in my house, but the aircon is something I don't want to compromise on, I hate heat and hate humidity!! I will have to contact my builder to actually tell me what exact ducted heating we are getting. I asked him if i could add a refrigerated cooling to it and he said i can't and gave me a quote of another ducted heating that would be compatible called Hi 30 ducted heating up grade to suit plus Elec thermo The quote was $2900.Is this expensive? I don't know whether it would be better to upgrade it or just resign from it and later do the ducted and refrigerated cooling myself. Any ideas and thanks in advance 0 1341 DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair Hi everyone Question about Brevis gas heating undergound - was recently installed by previous owners (<1 year old) but live in a relatively large house - 4 bdr - and only… 0 1693 How much are you ahead in payments compared to where the build is at?
