Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation Re: Free Insulation 13Apr 23, 2009 10:06 pm At the moment the insulation company of your choice will come out to your dwelling and check that you do not have any insulation, measure the roof and check that you fit within the guidelines. If you have a look on http://www.environment.gov.au/energyeff ... index.html it explains all the guidelines Re: Free Insulation 14Apr 26, 2009 12:39 pm Have had my two quotes and will arrange installation soon. Re: Free Insulation 15May 12, 2009 7:46 pm OK, had my insulation installed this week by AGI. I am so glad we did it, it really makes a difference. In our 1930s pad we have ******* old candlestick heaters that were doing zip on the cold nights. Now we are turning it down low after an hour or two. In the morning that sharp cold feeling is gone. Its costing about $900 which I will then claim back in July...thanks KRudd. Re: Free Insulation 16May 12, 2009 8:30 pm Great to hear you are noticing a difference I would recommend to everyone to take advantage of the rebate if they qualify. I am in the process of organising solar electricity and taking advantage of the $8,000 rebate hopefully I notice the difference on my bills Re: Free Insulation 17Jun 04, 2009 12:41 pm ![]() hmm we have insulation as part of our build but we should have handover by july. I wonder whether I could use the government grant to get insulation for above the garage. Is it worth doing? with or without the grant? It really bugs me that despite the fact that it is connected to the same roofspace area as the house it has no insulation. Any ideas as to whether i could use the grant to insulate the garage roofing area? or even the alfresco? You may insulate your garage so long as it is attached to your home with internal access to your home, every internal access Garage must be insulated under the federal insulation rebate program. There is no rebate for major extensions or new dwellings. CHI Re: 18Jun 22, 2009 10:44 pm ![]() Only existing homes qualify for the $1600 and they have to be owner-occupied. There is $1000 available to landlords who need to install insulation in their investment properties. Interesting to see that the Government also offers a $1600 rebate for Solar Hot Water systems but you have to choose one or the other. Either the Hot Water or the Insulation. With the $1600 Solar hot water system, does this only apply to existing home as well? NOT newly built? I know that the free ceiling insulation is not available for newly constructed homes. What if the solar hot water is part the the building contract? Ie. major builder has this as standard Are we able to claim rebate then? Cheers Re: Re: 19Jun 23, 2009 8:07 am ![]() ![]() Only existing homes qualify for the $1600 and they have to be owner-occupied. Cheers Hey Monichi, Yes, as far as I know new homes are eligable for the solar hot water rebate, however talk with your builder to find out how you will make the claim. Here is the Governments Energy Efficiency Hotline phone number if you have any questions about Insulation or the hot water solar rebate give them a call 1800 808 571 Also here is the link for Solar Rebate http://www.environment.gov.au/energyeff ... rhotwater/ and here is the link for the Insulation Rebate http://www.environment.gov.au/energyeff ... index.html Reminder; as of July 1st, insulation installers (insulation businesses) will invoice the Government. The home owner will not have to put in for a re-imbersement the installer will take care of this. Hope that answered your question.
