Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 Feb 02, 2009 2:21 pm We have just built a double storey house and need to install an evap cooling system. Total living area is abour 20sq, with upstairs about 9.8sq.
We are looking at about 5 ducts and tossing up between Braemar LCB450 or Brivis Profiler P43. Not sure what to look for and any advice or suggestions would be appreciated. Also if anyone has had one of these installed recently in melbourne what prices were quoted. Re: Evap Cooler - which one should i install 3Feb 15, 2009 10:33 am I have to agree. Where i work we have around 5 people a week ring up wanting to swap their old existing evaporative system to a new reverse cycle ducted system. Once an evaporative system is in you need to use all new duct if you want to change the system over and generally the vents would be in the wrong position. Ducted can obviously be quite expensive but wall splits could also be an option. I have one for my main living and one in the bedroom at my place and it is ok for me. Re: Evap Cooler - which one should i install 4Feb 18, 2009 6:59 am I had a Braemar system installed 2 years ago. First installer caused a lot of damage to my house and left the system incomplete. We had fires and water leaks, damaged plaster and damaged roofing and guttering. The next installer charged me a fortune to redesign the system and refit new ducting. In the process several expensive parts of the system disappeared along with some of my tools and tools belonging to other tradespeople. The system still does not work, the return air grille they supplied is still hanging in the breeze with broken hinges. Braemar came out told how bad the new design was however they are not responsible for their dealers etc. So we have installers blaming the product etc, Braemar is blaming the installers.
Braemars warranty people have been out many times and replaced many different components, the longest the system has worked has been a few hours. Braemar have now decided to refer my complaints to their legal people rather than rectify any more of the problems. I am now in the position of being out thousands of dollars for the unit, several attempts to install and rectify problems, repairing and repainting plaster (several times). Now I am up for the expense of removing the unit, replastering and repainting again and buying another system. I was also amazed the original install was not carried out by a registered plumber/gas fitter. This was not an issue for Braemar that their dealers do this routinely. In the event of a fire my insurance would not cover me. I will post more on this as it progresses. In the meantime I would suggest people do their homework on the supply company fully. I for one would not deal with Braemar ever again! C Re: Evap Cooler - which one should i install 5Feb 18, 2009 11:06 am rana391 I had a Braemar system installed 2 years ago. Braemar have no intention of helping me at all. I have to chase them to find out what is happening. The installers have both been official braemar dealers. My impression is they are protecting their dealers while knowing full well the dealers are cutting costs in unethical if not illegal ways. I hope I am proved wrong but after 2 years of being * to I have run out of options. The dealers are both located in the Northern suburbs of Melbourne, I don't know the forum etiquette regarding posting names however I have no problem answering PM's That's a fantastic result! Happy you got it sorted out. cheers Simeon 6 8646 Very common on rendered homes Smaller suppliers get the lower quality raw materials 6 11869 4 14309 |
