visited the Daiken man who thinks a 20kw system (3 phase) will do the trick. But he made comments on the noise being unneighbourly and his preferred siting does not suit me. The actron is a pretty quiet system and on a small block (450m2) a quiet system is a must for good relationships with the neighbours. waiting on a price from the daiken but he unsold me before he even started. ’’Quondo Omni Flunkus Mortati ’’ If the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy. Must save money as we don't have to run entire house when we don't need to, but can if we want to. good that i went thru ur post Helyn, coz we were thinking of having 6 zones (4 separate zones for each bedrooms, 1 for the rumpus and 1 for open living area and formal lounge) mainly coz at the night we only use 2 bedrooms... Now i guess we might just have 1 zone for all bedrooms , just like urs . Helyn We have been here since October so not sure about heating yet but cooling is doing great job, even in >40 deg weather. Glad to know that its working in 40+, coz thats one of the main reason why we wanna go for ducted AC and not evaporative cooling ... How is the weather in SA now? sorry, Anny - I missed this post while I was away - I must clarify - we don't have all bedrooms on one zone, we have 5 independent zones: B1, B2, B3, formal lounge are each a zone with 1 vent each, casual liveing is a much bigger area, has 4 vents, but is still only one zone - we can run any combination at any time as long as at least 3 vents are open - so it doesn't have to be all bedrooms together, sometimes we do lounge, B1 and B2 at night - no-one actually sleeps in B3, it is our spare room/ study. We asked our installer if we could set it up like this - often they make the division of zones be specific so, as you said, all bedrooms must be on together Am I makeing sense - I seem to be rambling on a lot without explaining it all that well IMO, if you live somewhere really hot, get refridgerated air con, evaporative doesn't do nearly such a good job, especially if it is humid. Re: Ducted Air Conditioning - any suggestions? 23Feb 14, 2009 12:05 pm Helyn we can run any combination at any time as long as at least 3 vents are open this issue is what interests me with the Actron - can have one zone only open and not end up with a force 10 gale out of that one open vent. If I've read the brochure correctly that is. ’’Quondo Omni Flunkus Mortati ’’ If the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy. Good choice. Rolls Royce of A/C IMHO. Absolutely delighted with ours. serge44 The actron is a pretty quiet system and on a small block (450m2) a quiet system is a must for good relationships with the neighbours. Quiet as a mouse mate. The Daikin guy is talking through his head. And the 'single zone' system works a treat. Don't think we have had all zones on in 6 months -- just turn them on and off as we use different rooms. Sometimes just a small sewing room but there's never any 'gale', just the precise amount of air to cool the room. Best feature of all though is the ability to set a different temperature in every zone. Love it. Re: Ducted Air Conditioning - any suggestions? 27Feb 15, 2009 7:38 pm thanks for the recommendation AM.
The daiken bloke was saying he wouldn't put the daiken around the side of the house because of the noise they make and then he wanted it out the back which would be near the alfresco - and still only 3m from the boundary. I'll be going with the actron even if it costs $17k+ by the time we're ready to go. ’’Quondo Omni Flunkus Mortati ’’ If the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy. I have seen lots of ppl on the forum saying, evap doesnt seem to work as efficiently (on real hot days) as refrigerated ones.. Again...Lots of friends who used evap said it was useless when we had real hot days in Melbourne!! I basically wanted an AC for very very hot days.. Re: Ducted Air Conditioning - any suggestions? 31Feb 16, 2009 1:30 pm Evap only works well if you don't have high humidity - hence in Sydney where summers are 99% hot and humid - it doesn't work and why we all have refrigerated a/c
Melb on the other hand tends to have drier summers. After 4 years - we're in!
