Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 Dec 18, 2008 11:12 am My wife and I just moved to our new house and we plan to install the gas ducted heating system because we really liked that in our last place.
Pls allow me to post three newbie questions here: 1. It is a three-bedroom house with moderate insulation. I need about 6 outputs. Not sure about zones since it is already cheap to use natural gas. How much would it roughly cost in total ( including the (hardware+installation service)? 2. Any recommendation on the brand? I saw Brivis and Breezeair in some other posts, but not sure whether it is related. 3. I live in the Melbourne outer east. Do you have any good contact/tradesman to recommend? Thanks in advance. Re: Advice on gas ducted heating 3Dec 18, 2008 11:52 am Only 10 squares internal. The ceiling is about 2.4-2.5m.
We would love to add referig cooling some time later. But now we have a very tight budget since we just bought our first home.... The outlets I estimated was by no means accurate. I guess the easiest way is to upload my floor plan here. [/img] Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Advice on gas ducted heating 4Dec 18, 2008 12:06 pm Just a a quick look. If you want to add refreidgerated cooling through the same system (ie same ducts) the smallest heater you would need to go for a 2PW20 heater, this gives you the option of adding add on cooling
Which is (20kwatts). However this would be more than you would need for your house. I would proably consider the Wombat 2PW15 which is 15KW. But according to the table i have you cant adding cooling to this model . Also i think you should put one outlet in each of the bedrooms and bathroom. And at least three in the kitchen near the external walls. I dont think you need zoning because there is a minimum number of ducts you need to remain open all the time. But if the experts say you- seperating bedrooms and kitchen this will reduce your running bill further. Regarding price i would say around $3000-3500. depending on model. And if you do intend of running refridgerated a/c later, make sure they install R1 ducting or better. this is the min requirement for a/c cooling. Really appreciate your help. Re: Advice on gas ducted heating 10Dec 18, 2008 2:49 pm Ozfish, we used Australian Climate Systems to put gas ducted heating into our current place. They are in Lilydale. Jason was great to deal with, explained everything, good price and the installer cleaned up after himself. Great experience.
We are going to use them for our new build. One word could save me hundreds bucks! Re: Advice on gas ducted heating 14Dec 18, 2008 8:47 pm sorry dynamite, you are confusing (AC= Aircond = refridgerated) with evapurotive cooling. Yes evaperative coolers need bigger ducts. But refridgerated you can use the same ducts as heating but they usually use higher r rating ducts ie higher quality. So if my evap AC ducts were better insulated then could I use them for heating as well? Evap if you notice work with huge air flow so much so you even have to have your windows open. Also for Evap ducts are placed in centre of room. For heating and Refridge the ducts are at the external walls then you have air intake at the centre. So basic evap always need to be on its own. It works differently.
