Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 Dec 16, 2008 4:35 pm I'm getting quotes for evaporative cooling, and so far we had 2 company came to the house.
The first one insist on that we can't put evaporative cooling because of the roof is a bit too small for the duct. The second company said we have enough room, and reccomend the CoolBreeze, 9kw, 4 point. I have two question in my mind, 1 Is it possible to have roof that is too small/low/tight for evap cooling? 2 What's the general view on CoolBreeze? Are they reliable? I never heard about this brand before. Thank you for help. Re: evaporative cooling and coolbreeze question 2Dec 18, 2008 10:17 am Coolbreeze are big in WA apparently, I had one installed at my last place (melbourne) and over a total of 4 years have the same number of service calls. First 3 were for the solenoid jamming meaning the unit wouldn't fill up with water and the last being the water pump completly dying.
They are not the worst unit but I wouln't install one again, my picks are:- Braemer Paradym (sp?) Brivis Breezeair Re: evaporative cooling and coolbreeze question 3Dec 22, 2008 2:26 pm Have a look at this thread
http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=9991 I do work for a company that sells cool breeze as well as others so you may think my opinion is bias but read what it says and do some investigating into different brands looking at the real stats and not just going off what the brocure says and the sales persons pitch. With the gentelman above who has had the problems with the system, unfortunately sometimes this does happen with any appliance and anytype of product. Even back when I worked for an electrical company I had customers who had a bad experince with nearly every brand we sold. (not meaning ine customer had a problem with every brand) I will say it is rare for this many problems, I honestly have had very few problems with my clients systems but nothing is perfect. If I had those problems I would enver buy that system again either I dont blame him. There are alot of good brands out there, choose what you think will best suit your needs. Also look into things suchs as duct work and components used, as well as installer. Some companies offer install warranty others dont. Also there are lots of different duct and component companies. You may get 2 different quotes on the same system, such as a Breeze Air 210, at the same sort of price but one company uses a duct with a 10 year warranty and another uses a better duct with a 25 year warranty etc... People dont normally look at this sort of thing. Make sure the company offers a warranty on install, if in a year or 2 the ducting falls of the unit, or the pluming wasnt done correctly so you get water damage in your roof then you will be really ** off if there is no installation warranty. Not to mention you will be up for some rather big bills. I have heard horror stories. Best to be covered. I would say both styles you have pictured are steel. The lower chord of the first pic would be a massive lump if made using timber considering the size of the rafters.
