Hi All,
First time poster so go friendly!
We've recently purchased a BV house, built circa 1970 and it currently only has a wall furnace and single room split system unit all in the one loungeroom. The split system only works on cool also! It's not a huge house, with 3 bedrooms (one really big and one really small), a lounge and a kitchen dining area. Oh, and the house is on stumps so access is available under the house.
Basically we left some money in the kitty to improve the heating/cooling of the house as we have quite a young family and the extremes of hot and cold aren't particularly welcome.
We are going through the process of getting some quotes on GDH, both in the roof and the floor, as well as ducted cooling.
We are getting some mixed comments from the people we've had through so I'm trawling the internet and forums to get myself up to speed on what's what to ensure I don't look like a complete doofus when we choose systems to install.
So I pose a few questions to the greater community, with any responses welcome and greatly appreciated:
1) Should we get an all-in-one system that cools and heats? Ultimately we would like to keep the running costs to a minimum (wouldn't we all!)
2) Is GDH in the ceiling as efficient as that mounted in the floor?
3) Other than running cost, benefits of Evap cooling over refrigerated?
4) Any recommended units for both heating and/or cooling?
5) Any reputable contractors in the West of Melbourne, particularly the Melton/Bacchus Marsh area?
Any help, feedback, advice, thoughts, 10c is more than welcome.
Many thanks in advance,
Matt
