Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 May 26, 2024 11:06 am Hi All, Our current 16 year old ducted gas heating is broken and needs an urgent replacement and appreciate any advise from the industry experts to make a decision for installation between gas ducted heating and electric ducted reverse cycle (Mitsubishi 18 KW cooling 20KW heating). While I had almost made the decision to replace the gas with electric ducted for both heating and cooling, I have been told by one of the heating companies that the zoned ducted electrical heating would NOT be able to heat the whole house at the same time (only one zone can run at a time) With the heating, it is important for us especially in winter mornings, where the whole house needs to be warmed as soon as everyone's woke up. Kids would be using bedrooms to get ready for school and myself busy in the kitchen/living (open plan). Without the ability to heat the whole house at once, we will be struggling if it zoned to have it either only in the bedrooms or kitchen as both need to be used at the same time which works well with the ducted heating we have atm. During the rest of the day its understandable that we will be in one or the other zones. So, Could any ducted reverse cycle experts here clarify if either all zones or the entire house can be heated at once? Also, the second point I was told was the hot air warmth of gas ducted is never going to be the same as the split or electrical ducted heating. I was initially planning to have individual split systems installed for the bedrooms but the cost of having them separate adding to the replacement of the gas ducted heating is adding up to more than electrical ducted reverse system hence why my initial decision to go with ducted reverse system. I'm looking to install a new heating and cooling system in my home, which has 3 bedrooms, 1 master bedroom, 1 theater room, and 1 living room.
