Wife likes the exposed beams, I hate the $600 per month heating bill, and still constantly feeling cold. Walls are also currently not insulated, but working on that now, plus just replaced all the doors with sliding double glazed from EcoEco. ( excellent doors, love them!). Was thinking I was just going to have to live with heat loss from the ceiling, but just came across Kingspan insulated plaster: https://www.kingspan.com/au/en/products ... sterboard/ Be kind of expensive, and a massive pain to install. But given the beams are currently 300mm deep, I could use 60mm Kingspan for an R value of 2.35, and still have 240mm of the beams. 50mm would be an R value of 1.8. Price is kind of high, $75 m^2 for 50mm, $92 m^2 for 60mm. I see online 5 years ago people were paying more like $35. So would run us $7k before install even for 50mm. Not sure if worth it? But its not just cost of heating, even with the heating costs and room is always cold, because while upstairs will get warm, downstairs just stays cold. Saw this: https://members.optusnet.com.au/fricker/r_benefit.pdf, and thought maybe even 50mm would make a massive difference? Anyone used Kingspan before, for anything like this use case? I once specialized in roof repairs such as this and this sounds like a complex issue therefore I suggest seeking the advice of a professional so they can attend site to… 1 3846 if l cannot get a sandblaster would a sander with sandpaper be better then a wire brush 4 15974 thanks, yes they are dry , thats a good idea with fish oil as sanding will be hard 4 9376 |
