Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 Nov 02, 2008 10:38 am Hi - we are building a new extension consisting of new kitchen, bedroom, study, bathroom, laundry and family room. We are at frame stage and I want to install "something" between the internal wall studs before the plaster goes in to provide some form of sound proofing. Just make sure you get the appropriate thickness for your studs, squishing batts in reduces their effectiveness. Even using plain R1.5 polyester insulation has muffled the sound a bit in our house. As you said, the main point is to at least put "something" in the walls.
