Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation Re: No Air Gap for Sisalation Paper 5Sep 29, 2023 3:15 am IncredibleBulk Hey all I'm trying to figure out the best way to insulate the walls in a home office I had recently built. The installers included sisalation under the external walls, with the instruction "make sure you leave air between it and anything else" The wall studs are 7cm deep. The narrowest insulation batts I've been able to find are 7.5cm and have been told "it's fine if it's compress it a little, they're never really the full depth anyway" However doing this would leave no air gap between the paper and the batt. Which leaves three options - ignore the gap and just do it. Reducing both the reflective property of the paper and risking heat condution - cut the insulation battts in half. Messy and difficult to keep even thickness through the length - find a thinner insulation batt? Any suggestions Use 50mm rockwool fibre insulation if it concerns you that much.
