Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 Aug 03, 2022 10:12 pm Thinking of buying a gas fireplace for my extension. Would you recommend this option? Gas is said to be phased out and the outlay plus install is 7k for the heater. We are concious of the cost to run increasing over time with government incentives to phase out gas fireplaces. Re: Gas fireplace 2Aug 30, 2022 12:38 pm That is what we have planned for our build. Talk of phasing out gas is waaay premature. I saw a report on the news a few days ago which said that the infrastructure to supply electricity only is at least ten - fifteen years away minimum. The government can't rule out more blackouts at the moment even with gas and electricity to generate power or for heating . Cost to run them though is another matter. Stewie Hi all, My first post, we are building a house and can’t decide the layout of the lounge room. We have a large N/W facing window and are wanting to have a wood slow… 0 13938 No the fireplace doesn’t work. It’s been enclosed. I’m not sure what was removed, as it was done quite some time ago - well before what I can see with photos online… 2 11766 I would probably render it and then paint it as per your other advice, or gyrpock over the top. 1 3492 |
