Browse Forums Heating, Cooling & Insulation 1 May 17, 2021 6:24 am Hi All, We have jus had an old California bungalow restumped and I am going to take advantage of this and insulate the floor. I’m going to use Bradford bats in between the joist which is straight toward - other than the small crawl space. The question is thermal bridging, has anyone done anything to insulate the joists? A possible second layer? tape or is it just not worth it? Thanks very much for any advice. Re: Floor insulation - thermal bridge 4May 17, 2021 10:57 pm The timber of the joist is a pretty good insulator so the 'cold bridge' effect is going to be low. Have you thought about how you are going to hold the batts in place? A easier option may be nailing foil board to the uderside of the joists, rather than batts The Harder You Try - the Luckier You Get ! I am going to use the method in the reply below.
