Anyone tried vertical shade cloth on a western wall? (no windows) Have an elevated steel framed steel clad house facing north with skillion roof and good insulation but still very warm at the western end. Thinking 70% shade cloth (to minimise wind flap) suspended from the eve maybe 100mm from the wall. Thoughts?

Any type of shading on that wall will help. What about your neighbours? Would they object looking at a big screen like that? There are other types of material based solar screens available too but they are a fair bit more expensive but with their frames they look a lot better.

There are also roll down blinds that you could attach to the underside of your eaves, but I guess the shade cloth would probably work out to be the cheapest and probably nearly as effective.
