Most plumbers just insulated the outside section so it does not freeze, but insulating the bits under the floors and in the roof makes a big difference. It does look much better though.
Does anyone notice any performance difference with those instant systems compared to the storage tank version? My wife's old house had an internal one (probably an old one, not Rinnai) that made the shower experience very poor. Hot water would come on for a while, then go off, then cut in again a minute later. You could hear the flame go on and off. That sounds like a restricter valve is in the shower head, which slows the flow of water which makes the system shut down. Cant take credit for that it was straight from DH! Paula Re: Rinnai Infinity hot water system 31May 29, 2008 2:02 pm SammyJ Hi MKR, We have it at my parents house, we absoloutley love it!!! Just a q with PD, we are hoping to build with them and i was wondering (if you dont mind me asking) how much extra its going to cost you to upgrade and by having the Rinnai INFINITY Hot Water System & do you still meet the 5 star energy rating? Cheers, Sam Hi all, We have just started to build with PD, our Rinnai Infinity with PD was the 26 with no controllers - upgrade cost $1551.00c Izzys123 Re: Rinnai Infinity hot water system 32May 31, 2008 1:48 pm Hi all, we will be doing our selections soon and our package includes a Rinnai Infinity 26 without controllers. However, as we have two young ones (see avatar) we are considering requesting controllers. Can anyone give me some sort of indicative pricing for adding a controller(s)? Is this to preheat what is in the pipes o that hot water comes a bit quicker? Should read the manual shouldn't I Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Paula Re: Rinnai Infinity hot water system 38Jun 02, 2008 4:41 pm Don't quote me on it, but I believe that button is used if you have the SmartStart system. If you don't have one, I suspect that button is not used. Only one way to find out, push it!! Re: Rinnai Infinity hot water system 40Jun 02, 2008 4:42 pm Paula This morning while sooling at the control panel, we noticed a pre-heat button. That will be used if you have the pre-heat unit installed below the hot water unit. The button comes standard with the controls. the sun master is the solar heating to "warm" the water in the tank the S26 is your hot water system which will heat the water (25 degrees?) so with both turned on you… 2 14807 For our new build in NSW we opted for a heat pump with a 315L storage tank.
