Browse Forums What's New 1 Aug 25, 2013 7:17 pm Hi, We are looking at laying about 170m2 of white polished high gloss 600 x 600 floor tiles over the top of existing terracotta floor tiles. Please please give us your feedback whether this is a good idea or not. Thanks Re: Should we put down WHITE HIGH GLOSS 600 x 600 floor tile 2Aug 26, 2013 9:43 am Obviously any doors in these areas or opening to these areas might also need to be trimmed. My sister has white gloss tiles and three kids under 7 and her first chore every night after they've gone to bed is to clean the floor. On the plus side though it does make her house look really open and bright and I'm considering them also but maybe with a bit of fleck through it. http://camdenbuild.blogspot.com.au/ by invite only please pm me Re: Should we put down WHITE HIGH GLOSS 600 x 600 floor tile 3Aug 26, 2013 10:59 am I have 120m2 of white porcelain tiles and I can say that I love love love them. We had them installed in our last house and even though the grout can be a bit of a chore to keep clean, I installed them in the new house that we have just had built. We were advised that we could tile over them. My husband tiled over them without a drama, we made sure that we bought very flexible adhesive just to counter any floor movement. We only put down 300 x 300 tiles as we were advised that the floor would not have been level enough for 600 x 600 - you might have a problem with them. If you are a fastidious house cleaner I would say don't get them. They will drive you mad. Even clean footprints make a mark (like a heat/sweat impression) and so do wet feet and the soles of some shoes. You would want to mop them a zillion times a day, they should be labelled "beware of children" But if you love the airy spacious look they give and are prepared for the work involved, then go for it. And yes, as Matt Cornell said, look at any doors or openings butting up to the tile and you will need a solution for the different levels that will be created. Surprising how small a difference in height can become a trip hazard. Re: Should we put down WHITE HIGH GLOSS 600 x 600 floor tile 5Nov 01, 2013 10:33 am My golly gosh I would not. The cleaning would drive me nuts. We have matte white floor tiles just in our ensuite and I HATE it because a single hair on the floor stands out a mile away. Not to mention I think (in my opinion) it looks a bit clinical to have stark white floors, reminds me of when I worked in a surgical theatre. But as Emy above said - they will run the risk of that stark clinical look. Just the cleaning and showing of every.little.thing would personally drive me bonkers! I love the tidy look and things that make it harder than it has to be really get up my a$$... Unlike any other floor you will don't damage them. But yes you do have to mop a bit more often. We mop once every 4-5days.
