That's the exact one I was looking at! Haha!! you've got good taste my friend, lol I'm even more excited now as I'll get to see what country oak will look like in your home ! Are you having the Avignon walnut shelving along the top then? It's going to look lovely, you've done a great job! It is nerve wracking because they're such big choices but I think it's going to be great I'm building in Plumpton I just started a thread today actually under the "building a home" forum where are you building? Do you have a thread? I'd love to have a look! HD Re: Karndean looselay vinyl planks - any good? 24Jul 23, 2013 10:32 pm We are also having Country Oak laid in our place sb, however we aren't glueing any of it. We also have Bone white Essatone, White cupboards with the kickback & island bench back being New Stainless steel. (it should look good) The only rooms I am not doing in the Looselay are the bedrooms & the Theatre. We are doing it through the Carpet mob & for good quality carpet with top underlay & the flooring we are paying just on $10k fully laid / installed. I was actually on the Karndean website the week before last & ordered 6 or 7 samples to make sure that the Country Oak was the one (my Carpet salesguy was able to drop round a sample plank for me). I was afraid that it would look too safe and I didn't want to be boring. So, tomorrow is the big day and the Karndean "walnut" is going in. Charlie, once your floor is in I would really love to see some photos. Would you post them to this thread? I have never seen the country oak on the floor and I still love love love it. Re: Karndean looselay vinyl planks - any good? 26Jul 25, 2013 7:18 pm SB, sure can. I even might invite you over to see them in the flesh! Half this forum is about to live there Re: Karndean looselay vinyl planks - any good? 28Jul 26, 2013 1:31 am I had Karndean warm oak in my last house. I had to find the invoices to check the colour I chose solely on colour and found out a few weeks ago that that is one of the cheaper planks. At the time, it cost us $70m2, now a lot cheaper. I LOVED them! They were easy clean, not too easily scratched (even with three kids and a tiny floor which they played on with wooden toys a LOT) and if one got a hole (we dropped something straight out of the dishwasher from a height and it gouged it, but that was the only one in 2-2.5 years) we could just call the floor people to replace the one plank. We had them glued in all rooms except the bathroom. They were a lot warmer than the tiles we took home to test out before we installed them and easily walked around shoeless without getting cold feet for most of the year. We are looking at getting them again. It is the practical choice for us with such heavy usage from my kids. We are also contemplating tiles, solely as we are not planning on staying there long and want max resale. We would absolutely have them again in our long term home. I hope you love them as much as we did! ______________________________________________________________________ Signed up Jan 2013........Almost done! My thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=65763 Re: Karndean looselay vinyl planks - any good? 29Aug 06, 2013 8:36 pm Does anyone know what sort of install cost I can expect for karndean Van Gogh? I was told the planks alone are about $50 per sqf, so that'd be around $10,000 alone for the planks. I've been quoted around 16,000 for supply and install. Does this seem reasonable? My family thinks it's a crazy amount of money for something that's not "real". HD Re: Karndean looselay vinyl planks - any good? 30Aug 06, 2013 9:36 pm Hi LittleWing, I don't have the exact figures handy but we've been verbally quoted approximately $105 - $120 sqm for supply and installation of Van Gogh planks including screeding - Less if we order a whole pallet's worth of planks. (which I think is around 130 sqm). Different places have given us different breakdowns of materials and labour but they all add up about the same although interestingly, the one who quoted us the lowest price for the actual planks was most expensive overall per metre (and we weren't impressed with him anyway - we can and do swear like troopers in appropriate situations but a salesman using "d-head" within earshot of my kids isn't one of them). ~ Anne I used to be indecisive but now I'm not quite sure. Yikes.......! I'd be looking at around 20,000 for my whole home at those prices! I really want the vinyl but that is SO expensive :/ I know it's a great product but it's very hard to justify spending that much on plastic. Lol yes you get all sorts! Do you mean summer oak? Which series is that in? Glad to hear you're happy with it HD Re: Karndean looselay vinyl planks - any good? 34Aug 07, 2013 6:26 pm Yes summer oak, from art select glued down. Re: Karndean looselay vinyl planks - any good? 35Aug 07, 2013 6:36 pm I loved the summer oak but it is the most expensive so we went with Classic Oak. We had to do our flooring through the builder and it cost us about $6000, but it was only about $1500 more then the builders standard range of tiles, So I felt it was a good thing to pay for I am happy with it, though haven't moved in yet. It looks pretty real and after living in houses/rentals with the wood laminate I love that it doesn't sound hollow and I don't have to stress if water or anything else is spilt on the floor, particularly in the kitchen. I think for some people they can't get past it being vinyl. I know I was originally skeptical as my experience with vinyl was in the house I grew up in, built in the 80's and the sheet laminate that was in my first house (the previous owners did a cheap reno). Yikes! I thought it might be the art select. The classic oak is beautiful Fmac, it was one of my initial choices but decided to go with something with a little more red in it so looking at Lancewood or Vintage Pine at the moment Do you have any photos of it installed? Would love to see!! Yes I really do want the vinyl. It doesn't bother me that it's vinyl, it's more my family that is bothered by it. It's fantastic your builder installed them for you! How many square feet did you get covered? For around 200 sq ft I was quoted 16,300 for supply and install. I'm trying to figure out if is is a good price and I'm starting to think it is. HD Re: Karndean looselay vinyl planks - any good? 38Aug 07, 2013 6:52 pm Our house is only 122m2 in total so it isn't a lot but keep in mind the builder would have added their builders margin to the flooring. Here are some pictures but I find they show up a little more orange then they are in real life. Yes I remember it being more yellow than orange. I love that it has a slightly aged look to it too ! Thank you for posting the photos So it was 6000 all up including supplies? No feather coat correct? I was quoted 50 per sq ft for the Van Gogh so you must have got a great deal on the product! I'm only about 80 bigger than you and I'm looking at 16,300!! That's quite a dfference. HD Re: Karndean looselay vinyl planks - any good? 40Aug 07, 2013 8:44 pm It cost us $6257 for the living areas but that's probably only about 60m2 when you take out wet areas and bedrooms.
