I've often thought diverting washing water into a toilet somehow would be a great idea, especially if you don't have a garden to divert grey water onto. Re: Do you think this will catch on??? 5Mar 21, 2008 11:35 am It is a good idea….bloody ugly and would scare the kids to start with!
It must have an overflow; if you use more water while washing than the toilet cistern could take, that extra water would have to go elsewhere???? Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Do you think this will catch on??? 6Mar 21, 2008 12:04 pm Extremely sensible.
It has long been a concern that we use perfectly good drinking water to flush our toilets with. We are going to see more of this sort of thing in the future. I would imagine that there is extra water storage capacity within the washing machine (it looks like those are reformated cisterns on either side of the toilet)- or else that is the biggest front loader I have ever seen. And if there is any extra overflow we can always divert it to our dishwashers! Paula Re: Do you think this will catch on??? 9Mar 21, 2008 3:26 pm Good concept - poor implementation.
Who'd want to take their clean laundry out of a machine directly above the toilet. One slip while the seats up and guess what - no thanks. But in principle this sort of stuff is already happening. The option of using greywater to fill the toilets are a common installation in many eco houses these days. Just don't put the washing machine in the same room as the toilet thanks. I can see why its not everybodies cup of tea, but imagine if you live in a small flat in Tokyo, you'd jump at the chance to get one of those bad boys. we should do alot more on the saving water front,we try, dont water garden all winter except pots under cover, use lots of mulch,we live on a 2000sqm block with lots of natives (2 seasons watering & then they have to survive on their own)around boundry & such, surrounded by lawn too but it survives. cheers k Block bought 1st RBC X! 2nd Ventrua,Keeper!
