Better looking than these cavity's. Re: Recessed Power Points 10Jan 02, 2010 12:22 pm Not a big fan of the recessed points as I don't think they look particularly good, but if they are directly behind a TV or some other big item then they could be a good choice. Prefer the slimline series points, but might be something I have to change after build if the builder does not play ball at the pre-start. Cheers Rob Re: Recessed Power Points 11Jan 04, 2010 12:13 am Looks awful, but you know what? I it means I can put my cabinet flush against the wall.. then who cares? You won't see it anyway. I have at least 5 places in my house where I would like a recessed powerpoint. I think they have a winning idea. Re: Recessed Power Points 12Jan 04, 2010 10:30 am Well we installed two of these yesterday and it was a breeze to do. Even better the TVs now sit flush against the wall and don't annoy the living bippies out of me. So from our home - thank you Pugs Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Recessed Power Points 13Jan 05, 2010 9:46 am I think they're a brilliant idea. Ugliness isn't really an issue, since they'd only be used where they won't be seen. I could have used them behind our bedside tables - I hate having those out from the wall! Re: Recessed Power Points 15Mar 10, 2010 10:03 am pinky And available at Bunnings...... Surely you need to be an electrician to install these? Anyway, they are a great idea, it's just a shame they are so bulky, that flange around the outside...does it really need to be that big? I can think of a few places that I will need them down the track. Re: Recessed Power Points 16Mar 10, 2010 12:14 pm I'm using these from Monoprice: http://www.monoprice.com/products/produ ... 1&format=2 Clipsal have a replacement power point that suits Aussie plugs. The total cost is around $40 per unit completed, and delivered to Australia. The advantage of this is that it's small and cables can run directly through the hole. I'm using HDMI & Cat 5 cables throughout most of the house and I didn't want to have a heap of connectors so now I can just run the cables direct. My Dad is a retired eleco so I was thinking I would have to get him over but once he looked at them he said that DH could go ahead and install them without any issues. Now cutting through the tiles to install one behind the tv in the bathroom on the other hand was a dead set nightmare!! Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Recessed Power Points 18Mar 12, 2010 8:36 am As soon as you said anything about cutting tiles I knew that there would be problems. If I had to cut a tile I would end up with a pile of dust in no time. haha Re: Recessed Power Points 19Mar 12, 2010 12:04 pm Nathan, must say DH did a very good job. We just did the lots of little drill holes around the perimeter then gently tapping with a hammer until it cracked inside the cuts. I was a nervous wreck - the only time I rued the decision to have the bathroom tiled to the ceiling!! Some things are worth waiting for. I've often wished that these Monoprice wall plates were available with an Australian outlet, I never thought that it was possible to replace the outlet by itself!
