Hi all,
Need help from the collective minds here on a few things that I have planned for my back yard. Apologies if this is a long post, but appreciate suggestions. I am currently building in NSW and am close to handover. My left door neighbour is halfway through their build, and I noticed that their slab is much higher. My lot is on a slight slope, as in the attached plan below.
1. Since my neighbour has a retaining wall on his side of the lot, and I am planning to fill the back part of my yard to level it, do i also need to build a retaining wall on my side of the land?
We will be receiving the Interim OC, while we do the landscaping and fencing to obtain the OC. To do this I plan to only fill the yard and lay the grass sloping towards the back of the lot (without having the retaining wall) and fencing, is this sufficient?
In the next few months, this is my plan. We want to build a deck and a shed at the corner of the lot. There is a sewerage access at the other corner of my lot so I cant level the yard all the way to the end, so I am thinking of leaving that area at the current level, but have a retaining wall up to the Shed line and have steps there. The height of the retaining wall would be about 70-80cm. So the level from the house to the end of the deck is on the same level.
1, Should I have a concrete slab at the deck area then lay the timber decking over it? or just have the decking? I am planning to have the deck similar to the photo further down this post (making it an alfresco area). I will also have concrete base for the shed.
Thanks guys.
