Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Feb 08, 2020 8:51 pm Hi, I am half way through building a pond and unfortunately following excavation we ended up with a bank steep than I would have preferred on one side of the pond. Recent rains have washed sludge into the adjacent pond terrace. I had dug out a trench at the bottom of the bank in anticipation of some run-off however it was overwhelmed. I had put in a swale above this bank however it too was overwhelmed and caused some run off down the bank. I do intend on repairing the swale, and putting in a small retaining wall at the bottom of the bank that edges the pond to stop future run off. I am aware I will need to clean this out periodically. It's obviously not a perfect solution. I have planted out this bank with dieties and dianellas, however they haven't established yet. The bank is mostly clayish, with a thin layer of topsoil. I am seeking some ideas to help mitigate the run-off, including landscaping ideas and ground covers for example. Thanks. Please see attached pic Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ .
