A path that slopes away from the house with good drainage should be your number 1 focus. Forget previous drainage, this is a new build and new challenges. They also don’t make slabs like they use to - assume you have waffle pods. I’d take an average side yard with good drainage over a coffee table book cover design any day of the week. With the help of an imagination, Pinterest and hydraulic knowledge there is no reason why you can’t have both.
