Hi This is my first post on here.
I've just bought a house and it has a tree root problem.
Pavers are right up to the roots of two ornamental pears in the front yard, the roots are lifting the pavers.
A big root is going right under the house and has green shoots and leaves!! (Shown in photos on building report)
The previous tenant has told me that the roots get into the sewer pipe sometimes.
I'd like to keep these trees as they will give excellent shade in the summer to an old house which I expect will get quite hot, but I've read they only last 20-25 years anyway. Perhaps they are already 10-15 years old - I don't know of course.
What would you do? Cut them down and plant some crepe myrtles? Or cut those long roots, lift some pavers and make garden beds around the trunks? I don't want to pay thousands for a root barrier, and I'm not really in a position to do that anyway. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅
