STEP 2: Observe over the next few hours/days. Thanks for the response. You mean to say pour dyed water in stormwater drainage pipe and observe that water comes in the trench or not? Bingo. You first need to either confirm or eliminate the pipe as the source. 3in1 Supadiverta. Rainwater Harvesting Best Practice using syphonic drainage. Cleaner Neater Smarter Cheaper Supa Gutter Pumper. It will also be helpful if you have your site plan with relative levels and handdraw or markup a photo showing the pipe location. What's likely is that your soil is clay, and when the drainage line is excavated to lay the pipe, the plumbers back fill with aggregate and thus create a "French drain" of kinds. This side effect creates an absorbsion trench that can soak and channel surface run off / and sub surface water from "uphill". Take in the higher ground above your site, and note where runoff and other sources of stormwater come from along with runoff on your own plot. You can also create mounds / swales of soil to direct runoff to your drains rather than into your trenches. Can you please clarify last paragraph in more details pls, as I am not good with drainage terms. I've attached a picture of site drainage plan - blue dots are the surface points, orange are 2 extra surface points which were laid at a later stage, and hence not included in actual drawings. Thanks for the drainage diagram. That clearly shows trench lines down each side in nice straight lines. Perfect for channeling water. Now we need to understand how the block level slopes from high ground to low ground. Do you have a site survey? Where on this plan is the section that's collecting lots of water?
