Hi all,
I am hoping to save some money and either propogate plants before we move into our new house or purchase some plants now (while they are small) and let them grow so that we have plants to put in our garden for little cost.
The problem is that I know nothing about gardening. We are building in Blackwood Park which is in the Adelaide Hills which I think has rocky soil (The builders hit rock with their soil report). The estate was a farm to begin with so I think that the soil is quite good. We certainly got weeds etc. covering our block very quickly when winter started. In winter the area can get frost and we have the highest wind rating (N3 - I think). In summer, Adelaide can get quite hot.
I am looking for plants that will be low maintenance (I'm not planning on spending my weekends in the garden in the long term once it is established) and drought tolerant as well as frost tolerant.
Are there any plants that meet all of these criteria (I'm know that I'm asking a lot)?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Tina
